The Toronto Triumph Club Inc. was founded in October, 1982. Starting with a handful of Triumph enthusiasts, the club has grown to become one of the largest British sports car clubs in Canada with a membership of about 300. Most of our members are in Ontario, but we have many across Canada and in the USA. In fact over 40% of our membership resides outside the Greater Toronto Area.
We are dedicated to all Triumph motor cars and our members own anything and everything, from a 1947 Triumph 1800 Roadster to a 1982 TR8. Although you don't need to own a Triumph to join, models owned by members of the club include the Triumph Roadster, TR2, TR3, TR3A, TR4, TR4A, TR250, TR6, TR7, TR8, Spitfire, GT6, GT6+, Stag, Vitesse, Herald and Standard Vanguard.
The motto of the club is "All to Preserve & Drive the Triumph" and we certainly do both. We also enjoy socializing, friendship and supporting each other with technical advice. Everything from a full body off restoration to changing a fuse can be achieved with help from your fellow members. Advice is also available through our ‘Triumph Forum’ feature.
Experts are always available and our Marque Coordinators are on-hand to help members with similar Triumph models: TR2/3/3A/3B, TR4/4A/5/250, TR6, TR7/8, Spitfire/GT6 and Stag. Before purchasing a Triumph you should consider chatting with one of the marque coordinators whose contact information is provided under the ‘Executives & Contacts’ tab.
DRIVING YOUR TRIUMPH
We love to drive our cars and our events schedule includes many opportunities to enjoy them to the full. Our monthly meetings often include a driving element and major events, several of which are organised each year, offer longer trips and overnight stays. We also encourage members to organise their own impromptu trips and outings with fellow members in their local area.
Each May we hold the ‘Spring Fling’ weekend in various Ontario locations. Organization for this event alternates each year between our club and the MG Car Club of Toronto, encouraging friendships outside of the Triumph fraternity.
Our own three-day ‘Canadian Classic’ is held every year in July. Previous gatherings have been at Waterloo, Ottawa, Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Port Hope/Mosport, Newmarket, Niagara Falls, Picton, Collingwood, Kingston, Peterborough, Barrie, Burlington, Sarnia, and Belleville. The event includes scenic drives, quizzes, a concours and participants choice car show & shine, awards banquet and of course, lots of fun!
Other featured events include a Fall Colours Drive and a two- or four-day Summer Drive which in the recent past has included a circumnavigation of Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay and also destinations such as the Finger Lakes in upstate New York.
On the third Sunday in September we host our British Car Day© at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Oakville. It is the largest one-day British car event in North America. Most British marques are represented from Austin to Wolesley, together with British related vendor stalls and flea market. Over 1,000 vehicles and 8,800 people usually attend.
The club has regularly scheduled meetings, usually on the third Tuesday of the month starting at 7pm. Currently we don't have a primary base for our meetings, locations vary throughout the year as we visit specific venues for technical seminars and social nights. We also encourage spouses to attend our social functions and regularly hold meetings which have food provided and other attractions. Check the website ‘Events Calendar’ section for last minute details.
Wherever you're located, fair days or foul, you can enjoy your membership to the Toronto Triumph Club year around. Our quarterly award-winning magazine, RAGTOP©, is highly regarded as one the best club magazines available, rivalling some newsstand publications for content and quality.
It is filled with news, stories, tech-tips, member profiles, great photos and supplier ads and it's all in FULL COLOUR!
